Together, Alex and Jaheira come to talk to Lionel. (Preferably done in Alex/Lionel's dorm room after the encounter with the cyclopes and before going to the special session Dr. Lord is offering on Saturday - though if that is not possible and Lionel is attending on Saturday, we'll approach him then and there, before Dr. Lord arrives.)
"Lionel," Alex begins, "there are a few things I want to get straight with you. I'll be blunt, because, um, well, I'm not so good at being tactful. So, that said, I want to make sure you understand I have not specifically been spying on you. Yep, I bugged the room - but that's less of a safeguard for me and my stuff than your lamassu is for you and your stuff."
"Now, um," Alex hesitates for a second, then continues, "I figure it's fair that you know why I did it. Obviously partly it does help me protect my stuff - or at least find out who might be messing with it. The other part is because, well, you make a bad first impression and because you're secretive - or at least standoffish - so it's not easy to get past that first impression. Um, so if you want me to correct that, maybe you shouldn't avoid me so much."
"But if you don't trust me and want to keep spying on me, I'm actually fine with that - as long we keep to the deal of not messing with each other's stuff. After all, it actually came in quite handy that you were spying on me researching languages," Alex says with a big grin.
"And so we have this reward for spying on me," Alex chuckles. "You left rather abruptly, but Jahiera and I figure your help is worth a share of the spoils of victory, so we have these ten doses of eitr for you. And, um, I figure even if you don't want to use it for combat, you might want to do research to see if you can figure out how eitr works - perhaps you could synthesize something similar." With that, Alex hands over a bag containing the ten eitr doses to Lionel (already bottled in tightly sealed one liter bottles).
