Liam sits in the common room with a chessboard arrayed before him. He's also holding a hand of stylized cards and appears to be playing by himself.

"Wha'cha doing?" asks Alex as he wanders into the common room.

"Oh just a friendly game of Nightmare Chess. My opponent is a slippery one" Liam smiles, "Ever play?"

"Never heard of it. Do the cards figure into the game?" asks Alex. Then with a little further thought he wonders aloud, "And are you calling yourself slippery?"

"The cards are the nightmare part. You take a regular game of chess and get four cards to start. The cards all do something unique like 'Move One Pawn like a Knight' or 'Switch places of two pieces. One must be a Pawn'. You can only use one card a turn, and you get to draw a new one from the deck whenever you capture a piece other than a pawn. It's dubbed 'Nightmare' because standard strategies and tactics are thrown out the window and it's almost impossible to predict what your opponent can do." Liam grins,"And yes, I'm slippery..I never know what I'm going to do"

"Um, that's different. May the slipperier opponent win!" wishes Alex before leaving the room.
