The (fictional) city Harmon University is located in.
Basic Info
Urich is a city located in the Adirondacks in upstate New York, near the source of the Hudson River. The population is about 124,000.
History
While occasionally used as hunting grounds, no permanent Native American settlements were made in the area that Urich was founded upon. It was founded in 1811 as an iron-mining town.
It has a rich history as a mining town throughout the early 19th century and an industrial town from the late 19th to late 20th century. However, due to outsourcing to Asia, most of the factories that supported the city have closed down.
Things to Do
Urich has a thriving downtown area connected to the campus by a one-car train that is reliable yet abysmally slow. The downtown contains a large amount of bars, clubs, and restaurants. In short, it's a place that's usually bustling on Friday and Saturday nights. There are a number of shops downtown that cater to the college crowd. Two malls exist in the city, equidistant from each other and the campus (like a triangle of sorts). There's a museum of the city's history in the downtown area and a nature center on the opposite end of the city from Harmon, leading into a state park.

While trying to figure out distances to things, I decided I needed a better a better estimate of our location. I was just looking at the Adirondacks in upstate NY, but that is a large area. So I delved into the part where we're near the source of the Hudson River. It turns out that the official source of the Hudson River is Lake Tear of the Clouds. You have to zoom in pretty far to see it on Google maps. But for those of you with an interest to see where this is, here's a link... maps.google.com/maps?ll=44.1069,-73.9359&spn=0.1,0.1&t=m&q=44.1069,-73.9359As we should be fairly close to this, this can hopefully give everyone a better feel for what's nearby, how far away things are, etc.
