Nothing's Cheap is Ren and Murali's blog. Posts are posted canonically, so I back date them all. Since all of Murali's posts are in late September, Ren's posts are later back (dated the last two weeks of August). The easiest way to find Ren's posts would be to mouse over "tags" and then click "Happenings @ Harmon". It won't be every post by Ren, but it will be most of them. You guys can read Murali's posts, but you can't read any of his Band's comments to his posts, the same way that Murali's Band can't read ours. Ren, as universal mod of the blog, can read anyone's. He's also the person who's set up so only certain IP addresses can view the blog as a safeguard against Titans/Titanspawn. The official name of the blog is "Nothing's Cheap" based on very wonky google translations and CAPCHA images, but Ren calls it ⑨. Anyone guess the reference?

The thing is, I am ignorant about Touhou, so have no way of guessing.

Hahaha, good job Alex "D Yeah the meme is from Touhou - Ren's a fanatic about it (although I'm somewhat ambivalent, I have friends who are really into the culture. It looks like a fun, if frustrating, game). The ⑨ has become synonymous with "ばか"/"バカ" (baka), which means idiot in Japanese. It all started with this screenshot and, thus, a meme was born.

Hey, just cause a guy knows squat about Touhou doesn't mean he can't Google. But how does the screenshot make idiot connected with that symbol?

So, in the screenshot, there's a character who's labeled ⑨. Her name is Cirno, she's an ice fairy, and is also a バカ (idiot), as she's labeled as such. For some reason, this spawned a meme in the fandom.

Ah, got it now. I wasn't seeing two, kanji characters or whatever they are, when I first read your other post. I just glossed over that thinking it was a few characters. But now I see the one...
Any particular reason why she's labeled an idiot?

I'm assuming she's called "baka" because she's intelligent (she knows how to do math and is one of the few characters who can read, according to ingame convos), but an absolute idiot xD

I don't quite get that. Calling her idiot because she acts that way, sure. But that she's also one of the more intelligent characters too. Sorry, I just don't see how her relative intelligence is relevant to her being called an idiot.

I'm not sure either "/ When it's a bit more respectable hour, I'll ask one of my more Touhou savvy friends. According to the Touhou wiki, using "Cirno" for "baka" predated the manual screenshot because of her childishness. It looks like the fact that she can read is added after the first manual that labels her as "baka" was printed (but does not pre-date the beginnings of Cirno's Perfect Math Class, which is odd since I think her math skills are awesome...).
