Liam waits for Dr. Lord

[Liam O'Doherty]

Liam waits for Dr. Lord early in the morning outside his office. He's leaning against the wall, upside down on his head and playing his guitar while attempting to balance a book on his foot.

Dr. Lord appears, a tad surprised, "Mr. O'Doherty... you're up bright and early... come on in," he says, unlocking the door.

"Well you know what they say Doc, the early bird catches the worm and all that jazz." Liam hops down and slings his guitar before following Dr. Lord into his office. " I was hoping we could talk about Magic.."

"Ah, Magic," Dr. Lord grins, "Not too adept at it myself. The future Mrs. is, though, as is Luciano..." he grins, "I've a few tools that mimic some spells as well, due to their previous owners being evil assholes who caught a bad case of dead. Quite useful..." he says, "I can probably answer any questions you have... or find out the answers easily enough..."

"Ah well, I thought you did use it..huh..well I'm honestly not sure what I'm looking for..to be honest I only know about Magic in the vague sense. My mother never practiced it herself, so she could on give me the vague generalities about it being the basic ability of manipulating fate. Oh she gave me some examples of what her old band mates could do, but that really doesn't do me much good does it? Don't get me wrong, it sounds like a very useful tool, and I've used it to good effect already...but I'm only a 'one trick pony' so far. I'm just wanting to increase my repertoire of tricks as it were, and want to know what I should try an do to do so. Ya' know, practice and stuff. You know me, gotta practice practice practice. So yea, just looking for some direction..."

"Remember, you're still a fledgling Scion. The tricks you can learn are limited. But I know what it's like... hold on a second... I got sent a codex when I took this job..."

With that, Dr. Lord takes out an odd book-variation, Mayan hieroglyphics written on birch-bark paper folded like an accordian. He then takes out a moleskin notebook. Then, with blinding speed, he flips through the codex, writing in the notebook with equal speed. In about five minutes, he finishes, and hands you the notebook. The notes are in English, with exceptional handwriting.

"That's all the spells we currently know about that a Scion of your caliber can learn. You'll still need to practice them, and the actual mechanics of Magic tend to differ between pantheons, but I think you can get the hang of it."

"And, of course, like you said, practice is key. Your current spell is for second sight, correct? I suggest you use it more often. In addition to learning more about magic, you'll have a better sense of the world around you. Not too many Legendary creatures can hide from it."

[[In technical terms, Dr. Lord just gave you a cheat sheet for every 1-3 dot spell in canon. As well as fanon spells (come to me for approval first, though)]]

Liam nods gratefully and smiles, " Ya know, that's a good point..." Liam lifts his hand to cover his eyes then moves it away [[activating Brehon's Eye <Liam O'Doherty> Rolling 5 dice:

You see a connection of Fate connecting your forehead to Dr. Lord's, in the form of a thin, golden string. The connection between him and Ix Chel, however, is deep red and more resembles the cables used to hold up suspension bridges, connecting them via their livers. You have a sense that there are other strings coming from each of you, but those strings are not visible at the moment. You can see a light prismatic Fateful Aura surrounding you, and a deep green Fateful Aura surrounding Dr. Lord and Ix Chel. Their aura is the exact same.

In addition to the Fateful Aura that surrounds the man and his jaguar, you can see that Dr. Lord is seemingly covered in Relics. The band of his wide-brimmed hat, containing fangs and a poinsettia flower, is a Relic. His belt, inlaid with turqouise serpents and an obsidian-mirror belt buckle, is a Relic. His safari vest is a Relic, that attaches via Fateful strings to number of items that flicker in and out of your field of vision. The items you see are: his with a trademark jaguar-carved-hilt machete, an obsidian knife, with a hilt carved from a human femur, a golden bak-nagh, a pair of sunglasses, a necklace of runic stones and a hunk of meteorite, a shield made of armadillo skin, and a flintlock musket with a feathered serpent carved on the barrel. While you can tell these items have power, you have no idea exactly what any of them are capable of.

A few books on the shelves and some of the animal skulls on the desk (as well as the codex Dr. Lord just unearthed) also faintly glow with Legend. And while you can't see from your angle (and neither Dr. Lord nor Ix Chel will let you get a better one), you can tell there are a number of other supernatural items behind the desk

While somewhat faint, you can also tell that the walls, floor, and ceiling are wrapped in some type of protective barrier, resembling mesh made of Dr. Lord's green Fateful Aura.

Liam blinks and takes a step back, shaking his head. "Well..that was enlightening...I think I'm gonna go somewhere else to practice some more. Thank you for your time and the help, Ill make sure to put these to good use." Liam turns to leave then turns back, "Oh and I was wondering if you could pass my email along to your fiance, I would like to ask her some questions and for tips about illusion."
